I would very seldom take a drink. However, when I go out for a meal, I enjoy a glass of wine. It would not be fair if I were to fail a breathalyzer test on my return home.
Also, I disagree that the deaths on our roads are due to drink-driving. I personally think that road accidents are caused by lack of concentration and downright carelessness.

The drink drive limit should be zero to save lives on our roads.

Drinking and driving don't mix. Either drink or drive but never together. We have to have zero tolerance.

Drinking and driving is a selfish act which can ruin lives. We should never never drive after drinking even a small amount.

How can you compare the price of a human life to the price of a drink?

If it only saved a single life, it would be worth it.

Drink driving causes death on our roads. In order to put a stop to the carnage we must have zero tolerance to drink where driving is concerned

Anyone who drinks 1 pint is in fact drinking two units of alcohol, even though they may consider it just 1 drink!
Padraig Cribben is just trying to engage the sympathies his consumer clientele group.
Would Padraig be of the same opinion if the pilot of a plane on which he was passenger had consumed any alcohol, even though there is a co-pilot and a system of auto-piloting on planes, not to mention far less density of planes to airspace than there are vehicles to our roads?
No alcohol means you are best prepared to drive.

I think that anyone with a history of d.u.i. shouldn't drink 'n drive, but if you can handle a pint or two, it's not horrible

Beware the law of unintended consequences where steps to apparently solve one problem and lead in effect to much worse. There are virtually no deaths caused by drivers between 0,5 and 0,8 blood alcohol level. Reduction will lead to huge numbers of people sitting isolated at home drinking.
